Perpetually Wet Feet

Before we went exploring on Friday.
Yesterday and the night before was squal followed by another squal.  We got lots of rain and strong winds.  We did manage to fill our water tanks and a couple five gallon buckets.  We started laundry, which I tried to hand between squalls - it's finally drying now I can't believe we didn't loose anything!  Of course I did use about seven clothes pins per piece of clothing!  Hooch got a bath, he wasn't happy about the rain or the bath.  We had to force him to go to shore and do his business!

I made a simple bread to go with the last of our left over soup.  I just head up a little (maybe a cup or so) water in a pan add sugar (about 1 TBLS) and sprinkle with yeast (about 1-2 TBLS).  I put a cup or two of flour (and green onions yesterday)  in a glass bowl and add the yeast mixture.  Stir, adding more flour until a dough is formed, then I kneed for five min.  I oil and cornmeal our cast iron pan and put the dough in with a cloth over it.  Let it rise for 30-45 min stamp it down to get rid of air, using my finger tips to leave depressions.  I sprinkled in with parm cheese and garlic.  Sometimes I use roasted garlic and feta or whatever I feel like.  Let it rise for about another 30 min and bake.   Easy, only one kneeding and delicious!
We got a little creative with cocktails last night since we had no ice and nothing left in the cooler to require buying more.
Hot Buttered Rum:
powdered ginger, cinnamon, cloves and fresh grated nutmeg creamed in butter.
Warmed milk - Okay I used powdered full cream milk and used extra powder to make it thick and rich.
Put hot cream/milk in a cup add rum and a teaspoon of butter/spice mixture.
Actually really good!  I forgot it is supposed to have brown sugar in with the butter and spices so Zach made us another cup with sugar.  I tried this once before years ago and didn't like it, but I didn't use milk I used water and that made a huge difference ( of course I also didn't like rum or powdered milk before I lived on a boat!)
This morning the weather looks much better, blue sky's!  The radar shows that we aren't out of it yet, but I hope we can clear out tomorrow morning.  We would do it today but there is an extra fee on Sunday so we will get a little later start tomorrow.  At least that is the plan and you all know how are plans go. . .
