We have yet to catch a Mahi or Tuna which are so prevelant down here however we are catching fish, finally!
This is the first fish we caught and if we had known what it was at the time we would have probably thrown it back. But we didn't and there isn't supposed to be fish sickness here so we did and it was good! (Bar Jack)
These two fish are both Snapper and were also good (Jack was better!).
This is a White Grunt, which the locals told us was like Snapper and said if we didn't want it they did. The Audubon book told us it is the main sustinance fish of the West Indies. We didn't like it. Next time we catch one it will be released for some other fisherman to catch! I had a nice flavor but a texture like bubblegum! We ended up mincing it and making it into fish cakes just so we wouldn't waste it!
We are finally moving the boat again tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed for Tuna or Mahi!!!
you are getting good at this, shouldve started sooner
